You Asked Me For Peace – Poem.
You asked me for peace.
Your request left me perplexed.
Before asking me,
Have you given yourself peace yet?
You have been seeking peace
for a very long time now and:
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in a bottle.
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in a syringe.
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in impulsive buys.
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in between the legs and thighs of others
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in binge watching movies, series and T.V
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in binge eating all kinds of food
And you hadn’t found it yet.
The last time I checked you were seeking
peace in video games, sports games, all sorts of games.
And you still hadn’t found it yet.
I thought by now, you would know and realize
that the world can’t give you peace.
The world may give you a false sense of peace.
But it's only fleeting and temporary.
Only Christ can give everlasting Peace.
For he says;
"Peace I leave with you my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
John: 14.27
